Default [SOLVED] Asking for Vista SP1 in Win 7 install --> Check compatibility tab

I am installing Zone Alarm 9 in Windows 7. I have downloaded the latest file from CNET but when I click on the executable to install it, I get a message saying I need to install service pack 1 for Vista. I have deleted the first download and downloaded the file again, but I get the same result. Anyone know why?

Hi!
there has been several posts about this problem. You may want to search this board about it. If I remember well some users managed to resolve it by running the installer from a USB stick rather than running it from the desktop.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Fax

This fault occurs with version 90_008_000 but did not occur with 90_114_000. However 90_114_000 gives an error that it is for a pre-release version of Windows 7.

ZA offered me a chance to try 91_118-000 but that returns the same Vista error.

ZA Help has just come up with the following fix for the Vista SP issue:

Please download ZoneAlarm, make sure to save it and not run it.

Once done, right-click the installer, then click properties, and then click the compatibility tab.

Make sure that nothing is checked, and make sure that Windows Vista is not chosen.

Once done, click the apply button, click ok, and then install ZoneAlarm.

I have not tried this yet but . . . looks good.
