Hi
I have been hit with XP internet Security 2010 Malware virus. It has infected both IE and firefox making it impossible to visit websites. I am also getting annoying pop-up false virus warnings etc. I scanned my computer when I first saw it but ZA did not catch this. I am running XP home edition (latest updates installed), ZA security suite. I have version 9.1.008.000 engine version and driver version. anti-virus 8.0.2.42 DAT version 101799648 and antispam 6.0.02383. Has anyone seen this trojan/malware and any thoughts on how to remove and re-claim my computer. ZA is a great product and has protected me for years so this is a first posting for me. Michael |

Hi
Thanks for the prompt reply. If I chose the directions from bleepingcomputer do I need to "de-activate" zone alarm before downloading/running the MBAM software. Thanks Michael |

No, you don't. As a general rule never deactivate ZA for installing anything. Its a good way to get infected...
![]() I would reccomend you anyway you follow the steps suggested here after having run MBAM. Cheers, Fax

Same thing happened to me, if this happens most simple solution is as follows:
The first thing you’ll want to do is reboot your computer, and hit the F8 key right before Windows starts loading (you can hit it a bunch of times). Then select the Safe Mode with Networking option. Next you’ll want to install Malwarebytes, make sure to check the Update tab for the latest definitions, and then perform a full scan of your system. Malwarebytes will find even more malware that SuperAntiSpyware missed (seems like you always need more than one util to get it all). Just be sure to click the Remove Selected button to get rid of the rest. Last edited by Forum-Moderator; June 29th, 2010 at 05:26 PM. Reason: Removed for recommending competitor's software. |
