On start up a note comes up saying antivirus has shut down and to update.. I do and antivirus will not start. If I shut dowm ZA and restart it says it says it is shut down but on checking it is up and running. If I change anything in ZA after this antivirus stops and asks for update. I have tried a reinstall but no good. Help!!

It is Sometimes very Difficult to Diagnose and fix a Computer from halfway across the Country, without All the Details,without the ability to sit in front of your Computer monitor and see what's going on.. Whenever posting here- or Contacting ZA Tech Support, it is always advisable to list your:Windows OS (XP SP 2-3 / Vista SP1-2 / Windows 7 32-Bit/64-Bit), your ZoneAlarm product Type (Free,Pro,AV, Suite,Extreme) and ZA version number (7.0,8.0,9.0,9.1), Brand of Computer and CPU, is it a DeskTop or Laptop, List any other Security Programs installed.

Hi!
first you should try to remove completely winpatrol. Reboot.Try now to update the antivirus. If the above fails, and always with winpatrol removed reset the ZA settings. This way: 1.) Hold down the Ctrl and Shift keys together 2.) Right click on the ZA icon near your clock 3.) Choose 'Reset' from the box that comes up 4.) Choose Yes on the Reset Settings dialog box 5.) When prompted, choose OK to restart your system 6.) Follow the on screen configuration prompts after reboot Try to update the antivirus. Does it work? If not: Always without winpatrol. It is essential no other security tool is installed while troubleshooting ZA issue. A. Remove ZA Antivirus with the ZA removal tool: http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...cpes_clean.exe (saved to the desktop and run it) B. Re-download a fresh copy of the ZA AV installer: http://www.zonealarm.com/zaavdownload/ C. Install with default settings do NOT alter them. After re-boot go to ZA antivirus and 'Update Now' and do not restore any previous ZA settings. Cheers, Fax
